The Trail to Oregon! is a fast-paced, comedic musical adventure following a family journeying west. Packed with humor, heart, and heavy audience interaction, this show puts you in control. Right at the start of the show, the audience gets to choose the names for every member of the family.
And the ultimate fate of the family? That is in your hands, too. Every ticket comes with one free vote to decide which family member dies at the end of the show. Want to make absolutely sure your favorite character bites the dust? You can purchase additional votes for just $1 each! Voting stays open right up until intermission, and every dollar goes directly toward supporting our community programs.

- Is this paid?
–Yes! The cast and stage manager will split 20% of the net profits after costs of production. The more people that come, the more we can give back to the people that helped make this happen. - Can I audition Virtually?
–Yes! There is a link above, but we will repost it here, to the audition form. - Do I need dance experience?
–Not really. There will be a little dance and some basic stage movement. But this is not a huge dance number. Coordination should be enough! - Can I audition for multiple roles?
–Please do! If you have a preference, we will obviously put that into consideration, but you are welcome to audition for any and all “Family” roles that you are interested in. - What if I have rehearsal conflicts?
–No problem. Let us know beforehand on your audition form. If something new pops up, let us know in advance and we will work with you to an extent. We understand that life happens. We are starting this process early so the rehearsal process is smooth and easy through run-throughs. - Are understudies being cast?
–At this time, it is being considered. We would love to have 1 swing for Father/Grandpa/Cletus and 1 swing for Mother, Daughter, and Son. However, that conversation is in talks and is still undecided at this moment. If you are specifically interested in that, please reach out to us at TrailToOregon@Role-Player.org and let us know! - Is prior musical theatre experience required?
–Nah. Is it preferred? Yeah. But everyone is welcome to come try out. We are happy to openly consider anyone and everyone that auditions. - Is this suitable for families?
–On Sunday August 23rd at 2pm, YES!
–On Friday and Saturday? This depends on the family. Do you like watching South Park, Helluva Boss, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Flight of the Conchords, or similar programs with your family? If so, then yes! If not? Maybe come on Sunday. - How does the audience voting work?
Every ticket includes one free vote to choose which family member passes away at the end of the show. If you want to rig the system and ensure a specific character meets their maker, you can buy additional votes for $1 each! Voting is open from the moment doors open until the end of intermission. All additional vote donations go straight toward funding Role Player’s free youth programs.
